Jafet Uutoni , also Japhet Uutoni (born June 29, 1979 in Windhoek , South West Africa ), is a former Namibian boxer .
Career
Uutoni was active as a professional boxer from 2012 to 2017. Before that he celebrated success as an amateur boxer.
In 2005 he was Namibian Sportsman of the Year and the following year he won the gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in 2006 by winning on points (37:24) in the light flyweight (up to 48 kg) against the Englishman Darren Langley . In the same weight class, Uutoni also qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games by winning the gold medal at the 1st African qualifying tournament for the 2008 Olympic Games.
At the 2nd Africa Cup of Nations in 2008 he had to admit defeat to the Cameroonian Thomas Essomba just on points in the final. He won silver at the 2010 Commonwealth Games .
