Hunting tax

Hunting tax refers to a fee that is levied by official bodies in connection with the granting of permits. Taxes of the same type are customary internationally and are levied in the Anglo-American region as part of “license fees”. Different taxes for national and foreign hunters are common.

Africa

Hunting taxes are also levied in Africa - but the situation on this continent is confusing. The collection of hunting taxes, which are paid by hunting organizations, as for example provided by the Ministry of the Environment in Namibia , is widespread .

The hunting tax in Saskatchewan consists of an annual basic tax and additional taxes for the permit to hunt special game species.

Asia

China

In China, a hunting fee (“fee for the protection and administration of wildlife resources”) is provided for in the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Wildlife, Article 27 . The funds of the hunting tax are earmarked for wildlife protection and its administration.

Europe

Germany

The hunting tax is levied in Germany when the hunting license is issued . The federal states use the income from the hunting tax for nature conservation and hunting promotion in accordance with the principles for the use of funds for the hunting tax .

Situation in Bavaria

The hunting tax in Bavaria is a tax that is levied together with the fee for the hunting license , in accordance with Art. 26, 27 of the Bavarian Hunting Act (BayJG). The tax goes to the State Ministry for Food, Agriculture and Forestry and is to be used to promote hunting. Professional hunters do not have to pay any hunting tax.

Estonia

In Estonia, the State Forest Service (SFS) levies a basic hunting tax when the hunting permit is issued. Further hunting taxes are due for the shooting of hoofed game. For a number of major game species a separate permit (license) must be obtained for taking each animal. ")

Finland

In Finland a hunting permit must be renewed annually, which includes hunting tax and insurance. The amount of further hunting taxes is freely determined by the respective owners of the hunting rights.

Austria

In Austria the hunting tax goes to the federal states. Austria also levies a hunting tax from Swiss hunters in Austria, which has been examined and confirmed by a court order at the European Court of Justice.
