development

E-10

The tank destroyer E-25 was developed on the basis of the E-10 , as it was supposed to use this in some components. It was slightly larger, now had the form of the agitator and was developed by Argus in Karlsruhe under the direction of Hermann Klaue until 1945. When research was carried out towards the end of the war, components that had already been produced could no longer be found. Parts and shape later flowed into the development of the Bundeswehr's cannon tank destroyer .

technology

The tank was originally supposed to be equipped with a 400 hp Maybach V-12 HL 100. Another suggestion was to use a unit with direct fuel injection and 600 hp. The third option was to install the Maybach V-12 engine HL 230  P30. Ultimately, in March 1945, it was decided to use the Maybach HL 101 with 550 hp. Furthermore, a hydrodynamic transmission from Voith should be used. Until the end of the war it was not clear which main armament the tank should be equipped with. In the drawings he was shown with a 7.5 cm tank destroyer cannon 42 L / 70. There was disagreement about the anti-aircraft machine gun of the tank destroyer and the plan was to install a dome version with a 30 mm MK 108 .
