Haideburg hunting lodge
The Haideburg hunting lodge is located in the Mosigkauer Heide in Dessau-Roßlau ( Saxony-Anhalt ). It is a listed building . It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm since 2000 .
history
The hunting lodge was built from 1782 to 1783. Prince Leopold III. Friedrich Franz von Anhalt-Dessau commissioned the builder Friedrich Wilhelm von Erdmannsdorff to build it as a hunting lodge and chief forester. It is said to have been recreated in a smaller form after the Prussian coronation palace in Königsberg .
In 1903 an extension and several outbuildings were added.
architecture
The two-storey brick building on a rectangular floor plan is delimited on the east side by two octagonal corner towers . Between the two towers there is a ruined gable with pointed arches , pointed arched windows and half columns. The north-east tower is five-storey with four roof turrets ( Wichhäuschen ) and has a pointed roof. The two-story building has a gable roof that is hipped to the south . The roof is provided with a beaver tail covering. The attic is decorated with battlements in the south and the main entrance is indicated as a fort-like tower. The extension and outbuildings in the historicism style are grouped with the castle in an elongated rectangular courtyard. The architectural style is assigned to neo-Gothic . The building was extensively renovated.
Todays use
Today the building is used by the forest management office. Viewing is not possible.
