The Jaja Verlag is a Berlin Small Press with a focus Comic and Illustration .

The Publisher

Jaja Verlag was founded in 2011 by graphic designer Annette Köhn in the Musenstube studio community in Berlin-Neukölln . The program focuses on comics and illustrated works. Cookbooks and children's books, calendars, art books and postcards are also published. The authors are mainly young artists, but also established ones such as comic artist Klaus Cornfield . The publisher presents itself at trade fairs, etc. a. the Erlangen Comic Salon , the Munich Comic Festival and the Leipzig Book Fair .

Prizes and awards

Publishing director Annette Köhn was awarded the Victor Otto Stomps Prize (sponsorship prize) for Jaja Verlag 2015 . Author Paulina Stulin was awarded the ICOM Independent Comic Prize (outstanding scenario) in 2015 for the graphic novel The Right Here Right Now Thing . In 2016 ICOM awarded Joachim Brandenberg's book Tobisch for “best independent comic” and Jan Vismann for “best newcomer” for the album Nomaden . Jaja Verlag itself was honored with a special prize for the entire program. In 2018 the ICOM Independent Comic Prize (Outstanding Scenario) was awarded to Federico Cacciapaglia for Immigrant Star .
