Jakob Braun (sociologist)

Jakob Braun (born September 21, 1939 ; † January 29, 2018 ) was a German sociologist .

Jakob Braun was Professor of Sociology and Social Work at the Catholic Foundation University of Munich (KSFH) from 1971 to 2004 . From 1990 to 2000 he was director of the institute for further education and international representative of the university. Braun was involved in the Fulbright Commission from 1976 to 2007 . He was the first honorary citizen of the Catholic Foundation University in Munich.

His main areas of work were empirical social research, the sociology of social inequality and social work in the USA. He was committed to social therapy as well as the training and further education of professional supervisors and occupational therapists. Braun was a recognized trainer at the Adelheid Stein Institute for Social Therapeutic Role Play (ASIS) .
