St. Johannes in Schraplau

St. Johannes is a listed Protestant church in the town of Schraplau in Saxony-Anhalt . In the local register of monuments it is recorded as a monument under registration number 094 06030 .

The patron saint of the sacred building, which is located on the church square in Schraplau, is John the Baptist .

The building stands between the old castle and the palace . The area on which the church stands belonged to the outer bailey of the old castle. In the Romanesque church, the west tower, the nave and the east choir were built next to each other. At the portal on the north side there is a rare fish scale motif from the Romanesque. Some tombstones from the former cemetery have been placed around the church.

Bells

Schraplau has a three-part bronze bell with historical value. The beats take a lot of getting used to. It is in very poor condition.
