Jakob Bruderer (politician, 1821)

Jakob Bruderer (born January 1, 1821 in Trogen ; † September 27, 1884 in St. Gallen ) was a Swiss entrepreneur and politician .

Life

Jakob Bruderer was the son of Johann Conrad Bruderer, an embroidery manufacturer, federal lieutenant colonel and extra-Rhodian state witness and his wife Elsbeth, née. Jacob.

He attended the Trogen Cantonal School . After attending school, he received commercial training in Geneva and in his father's trading house before continuing this in St. Gallen from 1841.

He was an influential free-thinking politician who was represented on both the St. Gallen municipal council and the Grand Council . He was also active as a district judge and from 1851 to 1859 and from 1862 to 1873 as a colonel in the federal general staff ; During this time he was also in command of the 19 Infantry Brigade from 1870 to 1873. When the Swiss army was restructured and re-armed in 1866 , he played a key role in it.

In addition, he was a great promoter of the shooting industry.

Jakob Brunner was married to Maria Katharina, daughter of Salomon Heim.
