Jakob Feurer (born October 11, 1912 in Flawil ; † July 29, 1999 in Altstätten ) was a Catholic priest and founder of the Swiss Building Order .

Life

Jakob Feurer was born on October 11, 1912 in Flawil (Switzerland) as the son of a postman. He studied theology in Freiburg and Innsbruck, and in 1939 he was ordained a priest . He worked as a pastor in Goldingen and Steinach, he was vicar in Altstätten for 13 years and from 1959 to 1987 he worked as a pastor in Wildhaus. Between 1988 and 1995 he lived in the rectory in Lüchingen , then in Altstätten until his death.

Jakob Feurer died on July 29, 1999 in Altstätten at the age of 87. He was buried in the Altstätten cemetery.

Founder of the Swiss Building Order

In 1953 Jakob Feurer founded the Swiss Building Order. The idea of ​​building houses, hospitals, old people's and nursing homes, homes for the physically and mentally handicapped, schools, churches, monasteries with voluntary work and financial donations or maintaining them has never let go of him ever since he and his domestic servant Ruth Matt did this work. Jakob Feurer was the first President of the Swiss Building Order. He also founded the building order's quarterly magazine, "Love Builds", and was its editor for a long time.
