Jakob Kellenberger (politician)

Jakob Kellenberger (born July 29, 1793 in Walzenhausen ; † October 20, 1873 there ) was a Swiss politician . From 1854 to 1857 he was a member of the National Council.

biography

Kellenberger completed an apprenticeship as a hat maker from 1811 to 1814 , after which he went on a five-year wandering through Germany , Austria and Denmark . In 1819 he returned to his homeland and owned a hat maker's shop in Walzenhausen. There, he served from 1830 to 1837 as a local council . From 1835 to 1853 he was a member of the “Small Council before the Sitter”, the district assembly of the eastern part of the country (from 1843 as its president). Kellenberger ran successfully in the National Council elections in 1854 , three years later he did not stand for re-election. Finally, from 1854 to 1859, he served as a national ensign (judicial, police and military director in the cantonal government ).
