Jakob Christian Lindberg Knudsen (born September 14, 1858 in Rödding , North Schleswig ; † January 21, 1917 in Birkerød , Zealand ) was a Danish writer and clergyman .

Live and act

Knudsen was the son of a pastor and adult education center teacher. After studying theology , he himself became an adult education center teacher and then in 1890 a pastor. From 1896 he was a freelance writer.

Knudsen's novels tell of rural life in Jutland . Christianity also plays a special role . The views represented by Knudsen were influenced by, among others, Nikolai Frederik Severin Grundtvig , Søren Kierkegaard , but also Charles Darwin .

Several of his works were translated into German while Knudsen was still alive. The novel Den gamle Præst was made into a film in 1939.
