Jakob Lohner, the son of Heinrich Lohner , joined Ludwig Laurenzi , whose daughter Luise he also married in 1857, together with Joseph Neuss, who came from Aachen , as a partner. After Laurenzi's death in 1860, Lohner took over the company entirely.

Lohner's company mainly focused on the production of luxury coaches and ambulances. This also brought the order to manufacture the first car for the Vienna Voluntary Rescue Society. Due to the increased number of orders, his company headquarters had to be enlarged and so he set up an operating facility in Vienna-Alsergrund , which at that time was still a suburb of Vienna. In 1868 his brother F. Lohner and his brother-in-law J. Brauner joined the company as partners, which from then on became the company “ Jacob Lohner & Comp. “Led.

Under Jakob Lohner, the company moved to a larger area in Vienna-Floridsdorf , where a modern foundry and spring production facility was also built. At the same time, a management building was built in the 9th district of Vienna in Porzellangasse.

In 1887 Jakob Lohner left the company and handed over management to his son Ludwig Lohner .

He was buried in the family grave at Pötzleinsdorfer Friedhof (group D, number 20).
