Jakob Lutz

Jakob Lutz (born January 25, 1903 in Herisau ; † June 28, 1998 in Uetikon am See ) was a Swiss child and youth psychiatrist .

Life

Lutz studied medicine at the universities of Zurich and Kiel from 1921 to 1927 and graduated in 1927 with the state examination and in 1929 with a doctorate in Zurich. From 1927 to 1931 he trained as a psychiatrist in Zurich. From 1930 Lutz headed the Stephansburg children's psychiatric department of the cantonal sanatorium and nursing home Burghölzli and, from 1947, the child psychiatric service of the canton of Zurich.

In 1937 Lutz received his habilitation and in 1949 he was appointed adjunct professor , in 1961 as associate professor and in 1970 as honorary professor for child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Zurich.

Lutz was a pioneer in European child and adolescent psychiatry.
