Jakob Speth

Jakob Speth (* 1820 in Dietenheim ; † 1856 ), also called Jakob Späth, was a church painter .

Little is known about Speth's life. He was one of the artists who were involved in the painting of the Speyer Cathedral , beginning in 1846, under the leadership of the Oberstdorf artist Johann von Schraudolph . The frescoes created under Schraudolph were painted over in the 1960s.

Furthermore, Speth can be found in the painting of the Gottesackerkapelle of Saint Veit in Dietenheim and the chapel Maria im Busch in Erolzheim in 1847. His last commissioned work was the painting of the parish church of St. Martin in Schemmerberg in 1852.
