Jakob Wilhelm Bieroth

Jakob Wilhelm Bieroth (born March 31, 1902 in Mainz , † November 9, 1992 in Mainz) was a German politician ( center , CDU ).

Life

After attending primary school and graduating from high school in Mainz, Bieroth studied from 1919 to 1925 in Frankfurt a. M. Law. After completing his doctorate, he worked as the syndic of the Rheingauer Weinbauverein, was editor of the Rheingauer Weinzeitung and lecturer at the research institute in Geisenheim. In 1926 Bieroth joined the Center Party of Hesse and was nominated as the youngest center candidate for the Reichstag elections in 1933 . After the National Socialists seized power , he was placed under house arrest and released from all offices on June 12, 1933. He was imprisoned in Wiesbaden in connection with the Röhm putsch . In 1934 Bieroth emigrated to the Netherlands. On the day the German Wehrmacht marched into the Netherlands , Bieroth was arrested again and locked up in the SS penitentiary in Scheveningen . After his return to Mainz in June 1945 he was briefly appointed president of the Rheinhessen government by the local commander of the US Army , but had to give up the post again after a short time. Instead, he became President of Finance at the Hesse-Palatinate Higher Government Presidium in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse and from 1947 to 1957 Ministerial Director in the Ministry of Finance and Reconstruction.

In Rheinhessen , Bieroth belongs to the founding generation of the CDU, of which he was a member of the first state board. In May 1947 Bieroth was elected to the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate . After the end of the first electoral term, however, he left the state parliament.
