Jakob Zürcher

Jakob Zürcher (born June 10, 1739 in Teufen ; † November 30, 1808 in Teufen; resident in Teufen) was a Swiss textile entrepreneur and councilor from the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

Life

Jakob Zürcher was the son of Gebhard Zürcher and Maria Grubenmann. In 1783 he married Anna Elisabetha Hirzel, a daughter of the Zurich city doctor, councilor and writer Johann Caspar Hirzel . As early as 1776 he had established a business relationship with the uncle of his future wife, the textile merchant Johannes Zellweger-Hirzel von Trogen . From 1778 to 1791 Jakob Zürcher headed the trading company Zellweger , Zürcher & Compagnie in Genoa , which was responsible for Zellweger-Hirzel’s Italian and Spanish trade. In addition, a Zurich councilor was in Teufen.
