Jakobus Church (Oberkotzau)
The Jakobuskirche Oberkotzau is an Evangelical Lutheran parish church in Oberkotzau right next to the market square below the castle .
history
The development of the Jakobuskirche is closely related to the local nobility, the von Kotzau family , who ruled the region for several centuries. Noble family members were buried inside the church. Several epitaphs on the inside and outside walls of the church, for example by Georg Wolf von Kotzau , still bear witness to this. The original village cemetery was around the church.
Architecture and equipment
The pulpit altar comes from Elias Räntz .
The choir and nave do not have a common axis, but form an angle. In 1935, major renovations were carried out under the architect German Bestelmeyer , which were then hotly debated in the local press.
On the gallery there are numerous coats of arms of knight families from the area. The coat of arms of the Hohenzollern of the Principality of Bayreuth , from which the barons of Kotzau arose, were added from a later period .
