Jakow Nikolajewitsch Chalip

Jakow Nikolajewitsch Chalip (* 1908 in Saint Petersburg ; † 1980 ) was a Soviet photographer .

Chalip was born into a Petersburg family of theater performers. From 1921 he lived in Moscow , where he attended the State Institute for Film . In 1929 he received his diploma as a cameraman and became a camera assistant and scene photographer. He photographed for the newspapers Pravda , Izvestia and Krasnaya Niwa. In the German-Soviet War he was the front correspondent for Krasnaya Zvezda. He then worked for Ogonyok and Smena, and from 1954 for Sovetsky Soyuz.
