Pordeanu (German: Porgau , Hungarian: Porgány ) is a village in Timiș County , Banat , Romania . The village of Pordeanu belongs to the municipality of Beba Veche .
Geographical location
Pordeanu is located in the northwest of Timiș County, right on the border with Hungary , 28 km from Sânnicolau Mare and 92 km from Timișoara .

history
The place was first mentioned in 1244 as Pordanmunstra Monastery . In the Middle Ages, Pradan appeared in the contemporary documents. Porgau is entered on the Josephine land survey of 1717 . After the Peace of Passarowitz (1718) the village was part of the Habsburg crown domain Temescher Banat .
Count Nako was the landowner in the 18th century. He colonized the place with Hungary. These still make up the absolute majority of the villagers today. As a result of the Austro-Hungarian Compromise (1867), the Banat was annexed to the Kingdom of Hungary within the dual monarchy of Austria-Hungary . The official place name was Porgány .
The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in the Banat being divided into three parts, whereby Pordeanu fell to the Kingdom of Romania . In the 1970s, oil was found on the area of the village. Some of the oil production facilities are still in operation today.
