James Anthony Walker

James Anthony Walker (born July 10, 1950 in Evanston / Illinois ) is an American composer.

Walker studied composition at Boston University with Joyce Mekeel and at the University of Chicago with Ralph Shapey . Here he became head of the electronic music studio. He then worked as marketing director for Gibson Guitar Corporation before devoting himself entirely to composition from the 1980s.

Stylistically, Walker is assigned to the New Age , he sees himself influenced by Frank Zappa and Luciano Berio . He withdrew all previously created works in 1985 "for artistic and personal reasons". He became famous for adapting Christmas standards such as Jingle Bells , Oh Christmas Tree , Oh Come All Ye Faithful and Silent Night . He released the CDs Music for a Candlelight Christmas (2003) and Where the Earth, Sky & Water Meet (2007).
