James Campbell, 1st Baron Glenavy

James Henry Mussen Campbell, 1st Baron Glenavy (born April 4, 1851 in Dublin , † March 22, 1931 ) was an Irish lawyer and politician .

He was a member of the British House of Commons from 1898 to 1900 and from 1903 to 1917 . From 1919 to 1921 he was Lord Chancellor of Ireland . In 1921 he was raised in the Peerage of the United Kingdom to Baron Glenavy , of Milltown in the County of Dublin, which was associated with a seat in the British House of Lords .

A little later he belonged to the Oireachtas of the Irish Free State. In this he was from 1922 to 1928 first Cathaoirleach of the Seanad Éireann .
