James Deahl

James Deahl (* 1945 in Pittsburgh , USA ) is a Canadian - American poet and writer.

Life

Deahl grew up in the Laurel Highlands area, where his family had lived since 1823. He moved to Canada at the age of 25 and has since held dual citizenship for Canada and the USA. He held the Chair of Literature and Creative Writing at Seneca College and Ryerson University .

Deahl is the editor of the Unfinished Monument Press and has published more than twenty volumes of poetry. His publications include numerous poems translated into German . He is a founding member of the Canadian Poetry Association .

Today he lives and works in Hamilton, Ontario. He was married to the artist Gilda Mekler until her death in 2007 and has three daughters.
