James Hamilton, 7th Duke of Hamilton
James George Hamilton, 7th Duke of Hamilton , 4th Duke of Brandon (born February 18, 1755 in Holyrood Palace , † July 7, 1769 in Hamilton Palace ), was a Scottish nobleman.
George was a son of James Hamilton, 6th Duke of Hamilton , and his consort Elizabeth Gunning, 1st Baroness Hamilton of Hameldon . At birth he was given the courtesy title of Marquess of Clydesdale . With the death of his father in 1758 he became Duke of Hamilton and Brandon .
From 1763 to 1767 he was educated at Eton College , Windsor . At the death of his third-degree great-uncle Archibald Douglas, 1st Duke of Douglas , he inherited the title 4th Marquess of Douglas in 1761 . James died of a fever, unmarried and childless, at the age of 14. He was therefore followed by his brother Douglas as Duke of Hamilton .
