James Forbes (politician)

James Forbes (born 1731 in Charles County , Province of Maryland , †  March 25, 1780 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) was an American politician . Between 1778 and 1780 he was a delegate for Maryland in the Continental Congress .

Nothing is known about James Forbes' youth and schooling. He may have studied law because he was a judge in 1770, that is, during the colonial days. There is also no information in the sources about his career outside of politics. In 1777 he headed the Charles County Tax Commissioner . At the same time he was a member of the Maryland House of Representatives . Between 1778 and 1780 he represented Maryland in the Continental Congress, which was then meeting in Philadelphia. He died on March 25, 1780 during a meeting of this body.
