James Franklin Jeffrey

James Franklin Jeffrey (* 1946 ) is an American diplomat . He was most recently from August 2010 to June 2012 Ambassador of the United States in Iraq .

From 1969 to 1976 he was an infantry officer in the US Army . Then he went to the United States Foreign Service ; from 2002 to 2004 he acted as ambassador to Albania . In August 2007, he was appointed Advisor to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor . As a result, he was the successor of Ross Wilson in the post of ambassador to Turkey from 2008 to 2010 before moving to Iraq. Here he took over from Christopher R. Hill .
