James Haggarty

James Haggarty (born April 14, 1914 in Port Arthur , Ontario ; † March 8, 1998 ) was a Canadian ice hockey player who played for the Canadiens de Montréal in the National Hockey League .

Career

James Haggarty began his career as a hockey player in his hometown, where he was active from 1932 to 1935 for the Port Arthur Ports and Port Arthur Bearcats. From 1935 to 1939 he played in Great Britain for the Wembley Canadians and Wembley Monarchs, where he returned in 1936 as a guest player to his former team, the Bearcats, with whom he represented Canada at the Winter Olympics. From 1939 to 1942 he ran for the Montreal Royals, where he ended the 1941/42 season with the Canadiens de Montréal in the National Hockey League . In a total of eight NHL games for the Canadiens, he scored three goals and two assists. During the Second World War he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and played for various military teams from 1942 to 1945. Most recently, he was on the ice from 1945 to 1950 for the Montreal Royals and Valleyfield Braves.

International

For Canada , Haggarty took part in the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , where he and his team won the silver medal.
