James Harding
James Harding , also James Harden (* around 1550 ; buried January 28, 1626 in Isleworth ) was an English flautist and composer.
Life
He was appointed to the English court on May 22, 1875 as a flautist. He held this position until his death. His son Edward Harding also became a court musician. In the 1590s the family moved to Isleworth from the Parish Church of Holy Trinity, Minories .
Works (selection)
Only a few works by James Harding have survived, but they identify him as an accomplished composer. A Galiarda is known which was transcribed by William Byrd and recorded in the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book .
