James L. Nelligan (1981)

James Leo Nelligan (born February 14, 1929 in Wilkes-Barre , Pennsylvania ) is a former American politician . Between 1981 and 1983 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

James Nelligan attended the public schools of his home country and then until 1946 the Coughlin High School , also in Wilkes-Barre. In 1951 he graduated from King's College there . He served in the US Army and worked as an accountant. Between 1951 and 1967 he worked for the Government Accountability Office in Washington, DC , from 1967 to 1970 for the Congressional Committee on Government Operations . He then worked for the Federal Office of Economic Opportunity between 1970 and 1973 . He then worked in the General Services Administration until 1975 . He then worked for the Congressional Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce until 1979 .

Politically, Nelligan became a member of the Republican Party . In the 1980 congressional elections , he was elected to the Eleventh constituency of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives in Washington, where he succeeded Democrat Ray Musto on January 3, 1981 . Since he was not confirmed in 1982, he could only complete one term in Congress until January 3, 1983 .

From 1983 to 1985, James Nelligan served as Deputy Secretary of Revenue at the Pennsylvania State Treasury. Until 1987 he was a director at the representation of his state in the federal capital Washington. After that, he no longer appeared politically.
