James N. Galloway

James N. Galloway (born October 26, 1944 in Annapolis (Maryland) ) is an American geoscientist in the field of biogeochemistry . Galloway is a professor at the University of Virginia . In 1972 he earned a doctorate in chemistry from the University of California .

Life

At the beginning of his research career he dealt with acid rain . Today he is researching the nitrogen cycle . Galloway spearheaded the concept of nitrogen cascade ( English nitrogen cascade ).

In 2020 Galloway was elected to the National Academy of Sciences .
