James Wilkinson (sound engineer)
James Ray Wilkinson (born September 2, 1896 in Iowa , † November 16, 1984 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American film editor and sound engineer .
Life
Wilkinson initially worked as a film editor in the early 1920s. He later headed the sound department at RKO Pictures . In this capacity he was nominated for an Oscar for Best Sound in 1939 for George Stevens ' screwball comedy Vivacious Lady with Ginger Rogers and James Stewart in the leading roles . This year the award went to Thomas T. Moulton for my husband, the cowboy .
Wilkinson died in Los Angeles at the age of 88.
