Jamie Margolin

Jamie Margolin (born 10. December 2001 ) is an American climate - activist . She is a co-founder of the Zero Hour movement and became known worldwide as a face of the American climate youth.

Live and act

At the age of 16, Margolin was one of the founders of the Zero Hour movement alongside Nadia Nazar , which used social media to organize the first youth marches on the climate crisis in 25 cities. The foundation was inspired by the extent of the damage caused by Hurricane Maria , which had wreaked havoc in Puerto Rico , and forest fires in Canada, the smoke clouds of which had spread to Margolin's hometown Seattle. She testified as a witness at the side of Greta Thunberg before the US Congress.

Margolin speaks openly about her hope that the climate crisis can be overcome:

“If you think there is no hope, how can you fight it without going nuts? I have no choice but to believe that we will somehow get through this, because what else are you fighting for? "

Teen Vogue magazine named Margolin "21 Under 21" on its 2018 list. The People magazine named her in 2018 on its list "25 Women Changing the World". The BBC show 100 Women portrayed her in 2019.
