Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö ( Tib . : 'jam dbyangs mkhyen brtse chos kyi blo gros ; also: Dzongsar Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö ; born 1896 ; died 1959 ) was one of the most important masters of Tibetan Buddhism of the 20th century.

Originally in the Sakya trained -School, Jamyang Khyentse Chokyi Lodro was an incarnation of the great Sakya and Rime master , Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo (1820-1892) and led the work in Tibet further by collating and distributing various traditions helped to save Tibetan Buddhism in its fullness from destruction. Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö is therefore also considered a “master of all lines of tradition” and was revered by all masters of all Tibetan schools. His companion (gSang yum) from 1952 to 1959 was Khandro Tsering Chödrön.

His most important student was Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche , a famous master of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism. The Lama Sogyal Rinpoche , known in the West, was also a student of Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö. When Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö died in 1959, various wonderful signs are said to have occurred. Immediately after the onset of death, various light phenomena are said to have appeared in the sky at night in Sikkim and the body of Jamyang Khyentse did not go into the process of decay for several months. It could be laid out for a long time in order to give many masters and students the opportunity to say goodbye.

Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse (* 1961 in Bhutan) is regarded as the incarnation of Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrös.
