Jan-Hendrik Dietrich

Jan-Hendrik Dietrich (* 1976 ) is a German lawyer and professor for administrative law , constitutional law and security administrative law at the intelligence services department of the Federal University of Public Administration .

Life

Dietrich studied law at the University of Hamburg and completed his legal preparatory service in the district of the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Hamburg . 2011 doctorate he attended the University of Hamburg with a thesis on "national defense within the limits of Umweltpflichtigkeit" to Dr. iur. For this work he received the 2012 Biocracy Prize.

In 2015, the Federal Public Prosecutor at the Federal Court of Justice commissioned Dietrich to prepare an expert opinion on the question of the criminal liability of publications of confidential documents by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution through netzpolitik.org . The Federal Ministry of Justice arranged for this order to be withdrawn. The controversy surrounding the matter led to the dismissal of the Federal Public Prosecutor Harald Range in August 2015 . Dietrich published the main results of this report in 2016 in the journal “Rechtswwissenschaft”.

He is co-editor of the "Zeitschrift für das Allgemeine Sicherheitsrecht" (GSZ) and the "Zeitschrift für Didaktik der Rechtswissenschaft" (ZDRW).

Since 2018, together with Uwe M. Borghoff, he has headed the Center for Intelligence and Security Studies (CISS) and the “ Master in Intelligence and Security Studies ” (MISS) course jointly sponsored by the Federal University of Applied Sciences and the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich . To date, this is the only degree program in Germany that specializes in intelligence studies .
