Jan-Marc Hodek

Jan-Marc Hodek (* 1979 in Hameln ) is a German economist and professor for health economics at the RWU - Ravensburg Weingarten University . He is also Vice Dean of the Faculty of Social Work, Health and Nursing.

Life

After studying economics at Leibniz Universität Hannover , Hodek worked from 2005 to 2010 as a research assistant at the Chair of Health Economics and Health Management at Bielefeld University with Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Greiner busy. He also worked as a management consultant in the healthcare sector.

His dissertation in 2010 dealt with questions of customer loyalty and switching behavior in health insurance.

From 2010 to 2014 he worked as a consultant in the field of health economics at the Federal Ministry of Health in the office of the Advisory Council for assessing developments in the health sector.

Since 2014 he has been Professor of Finance in Health Care at the University of Ravensburg-Weingarten. Since 2018 he has been heading the health economics course . In addition, he has been Vice Dean of the Faculty of Social Work, Health and Care at RWU - Ravensburg Weingarten University since 2019 .

Main focus of work and research

Jan-Marc Hodek's work and research focus is on the business analysis of health care facilities and the underlying health policy decisions. He is particularly interested in the health economic analysis of the health insurance market and the inpatient sector (with a focus on the rehabilitation sector ) as well as on the subject of competition in the healthcare sector. Hodek also works as a speaker, lecturer and author on the fundamentals of the health system .

Prizes and awards

For his work on the economic consequences of reforms in the health care system, Hodek was awarded the Wilhelm Launhardt Prize in 2005 by the Friends of the Faculty of Economics in Hanover .
