Wolfgang Greiner

Wolfgang Greiner (* 1965 ) is a German economist .

Since 2005 he has held the chair for “ Health Economics and Health Management ” at Bielefeld University .

Life

After training as a banker , Greiner studied economics at the University of Hanover from 1987 . He then worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Insurance Management there of Prof. Dr. Johann-Matthias Graf von der Schulenburg .

In 1998 he received his doctorate with a dissertation on cost-benefit analyzes in health care , and in 2004 he completed his habilitation on health- economic aspects of disease management.

His main research interests include health insurance , quality of life measurement , disease management programs , health economic evaluations and health technology assessments . In 2009 he published a study on the duration of protection and cost-effectiveness of the HPV vaccine . In 2014, he pointed out the enormous economic damage that flu vaccinations could prevent. In 2015, together with Julian Witte, he presented the first AMNOG report in which the effects of the early benefit assessment on the pharmaceutical market are analyzed.

Memberships, commissions

He has been a member of the executive and board of the EuroQol Research Foundation in Rotterdam for years , where he heads the working group on measuring the quality of life of children and adolescents (EQ-5D-Y). Wolfgang Greiner is the former chairman of the German Society for Health Economics (dggö) and chairman of the state arbitration office for dental care in Lower Saxony.

Greiner is the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung's local liaison professor at Bielefeld University . He is a member of the scientific advisory boards of DAK-Gesundheit and TK . He is also deputy chairman of the supervisory board of the health clinics in Bad Lippspringe (Medical Center for Health Bad Lippspringe GmbH - MZG).

Since 2010 he has been a member of the Advisory Council for the assessment of developments in the healthcare sector and since June 2015 a member of the scientific advisory board of the Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Healthcare (IQWiG) and since August 2018 a member of the scientific advisory board for the further development of risk structure compensation .
