The German Society for Health Economics (dggö) is a scientific specialist society of German health economists. It was founded on October 17th, 2008 by 17 university professors.

tasks

The association aims to promote science, research and scientific policy advice in the field of health economics . Her tasks also include the implementation of scientific events and research projects as well as the awarding of prizes and awards. In particular, there is an annual meeting every spring. The society is a member of the working group of scientific medical societies as well as the European Health Economics Association (EuHEA) and an associated member of the International Health Economics Association (iHEA).

Annual meetings

The first annual conference was held in Hanover in March 2009 ( Shaping the future with knowledge ). The second annual conference took place in March 2010 in Berlin under the topic Money meets medicine . The third annual conference in Bayreuth in March 2011 was on the topic of Health Care Financing - Efficiency and Justice . The fourth annual conference in March 2012 in Constance was on the subject of prioritization and rationing in the healthcare system . The fifth annual conference took place in Essen in March 2013 under the topic of "Controlling Health Care". It was managed by Jürgen Wasem . The sixth annual conference, in March 2014 in Munich , took place on the topic of economics and disease management under the direction of Reiner Leidl. In March 2015, the seventh annual conference took place under the heading Health in the Regions - Between Entitlement to Care and Cost Distribution under the direction of Wolfgang Greiner in Bielefeld . The eighth annual conference took place in Berlin in March 2016 under the general topic "Improving health systems: A common challenge for science and politics" under the direction of Reinhard Busse . The ninth annual conference took place at the University of Basel from 09-10. March 2017 under the topic of contract competition in health insurance . The 10th annual conference took place in Hamburg in March 2018 under the heading "Medicine and Economy in Dialog".

Committees

In addition to the annual conference, the scientific life of the society takes place in particular in committees. Currently there are u. a. Committees for economic evaluation, patient care, development cooperation, health insurance , health services research , distribution - Compensation and reimbursement, health economics and eHealth and young scientists.

CEO

The founding chairman was Johann-Matthias Graf von der Schulenburg from the University of Hanover . The chairmanship changes annually on a rotating basis.

Gérard Gäfgen Medal

Since 2011, the association has awarded the Gérard Gäfgen Medal, named after Gérard Gäfgen , to a person who has made a special contribution to the development of health economics in Germany .
