Live and act

Jan Adam Gallina was the son of the cantor and organist Martin Antonín Gallina. The Gallina family was of a certain importance in the region, its members were active as singers and organists, clergy, doctors and above all as senior officials. Gallina was a student of Václav Jan Kopřiva and was employed at Cítoliby Castle as a musician and secretary of the kitchen under the conductor Jan Josef Janoušek (1717–1750). After Janoušek's death, Gallina received the position of Kapellmeister.

During Gallina's tenure, the Castle Orchestra of Cítoliby reached a very high level. The employer, Count Ernst Karl Pachta von Rayhofen, was not only a great music lover, but also a demanding critic, he hired the entire castle staff, from the court chaplain to the lackey, according to their musical abilities.

Jan Adam Gallina had three brothers who were also musicians, including Josef Antonín Gallina (1726–1765), who was the secretary of the palace administration.

Gallina currently knows three symphonies for strings with solo wind parts.
