Jan Bevington Gillett

Jan Bevington Gillett (* 1911 ; † 1995 ) was an English botanist . He mainly explored the flora of East Africa and Iraq . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " JBGillett ".

Gillett undertook many expeditions in East Africa and Iraq between 1932 and 1972, during which he was able to collect a large number of previously unknown plants. He described over 200 new species .

Over 30 species bear the Artepipheton gillettii in honor , such as the harp shrub Plectranthus gillettii .
