Jan Fischer (basketball official)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jan Henning Fischer is a German basketball official .

Life

Fischer played soccer as a child . When he became a student at the Johann-Rist-Gymnasium in Wedel , he came to basketball because of the close connection between the school and SC Rist Wedel . At the club he met Marvin Willoughby . After graduating from high school in Wedel, Fischer studied sociology, sport and psychology at the University of Hamburg . In addition to his studies, he worked in the sports and fitness area as a trainer.

Together with Marvin Willoughby and other comrades-in- arms , Fischer, who worked for the sports marketing and organizer Upsolut , initially offered basketball holiday camps for children. Behind this, according to his own statement, was the desire “to do sport on the one hand, but also to promote togetherness”. Since there was good feedback from the camp participants as well as the parents, according to Fischer, the motivation to continue on this path grew. Since people preferred to “do something of their own”, the decision was made in 2006 to found an association ( Sport without Borders ). As one of the shareholders of Hamburg Towers Basketball-Betriebsgesellschaft mbH, Fischer was subsequently one of the people who determined the structure and development of the Hamburg Towers professional team, founded in 2013 . In January 2017, he became managing partner of Hamburg Towers alongside Willoughby.
