Live and act

Lisa Zoe Geretschläger is the daughter of Zita Geretschläger-Hauptmann and Robert Geretschläger , who was born in Canada . Both parents are teachers in Graz; the mother for German and English, the father a doctorate in maths and senior teacher .

Lisa Geretschläger studied editing and directing at the Vienna Film College from 2008 to 2014 . There she formed a working collective with Alexandra Makarová , Sebastian Schmidl and Georg Weiss that made several short films together. Geretschläger was nominated for the editing prize at the Cologne Festival Filmplus in 2014 for her montage of Makarová's short film Sola .

At the same time, Geretschläger worked as an assistant editor for feature films from 2013, in particular on projects by the editor Joana Scrinzi , which she supported on Tough Cookies (2014), Drei Eier im Glas (2015), Kater (2016) and Gwendolyn (2017).

In 2016, Geretschläger managed to appear at the Berlinale with three films at the same time . Among them was Agonie (director: David Clay Diaz ), her first feature film as editor, which was nominated for the GWFF Best First Feature Award. Agonie then won the Bavarian Culture Prize 2016.

Next, Geretschläger edited her first long documentary with the musician portrait Late Blossom Blues - The Journey of Leo "Bud" Welch (directors: Wolfgang Pfoser-Almer & Stefan Wolner ), which the film critic Neil Fox described as "incredibly moving and beautifully put together" designated.

In 2018, the feature film Zerschlag mein Herz followed, the feature film debut by Alexandra Makarová, which was mainly staged with amateur actors. In the feature film Lovecut (directed by Iliana Estañol & Johanna Lietha ), which won the script award at the Max Ophüls Film Festival in 2020 , Geretschläger had to deal with an ensemble of young actors without significant acting experience, whose episodic narrative strands are interwoven with the montage.

Lisa Zoe Geretschläger is a member of the Austrian Film Editing Association (aea) , of which she has been a member since 2019.
