Wolfgang Pfoser-Almer (born September 18, 1975 in Kirchdorf as Wolfgang Almer ) is an Austrian filmmaker , artistic director , lecturer and cultural manager .

Life

Wolfgang Pfoser-Almer grew up in Wartberg / Krems. 1996–2002 he studied business administration at the Johannes Kepler University Linz. From 2006 to 2008 he completed a master's degree in film and TV production at the Danube University Krems. He has been called Pfoser-Almer since his marriage in 2016. He lives in Vienna.

Act

In 1998 he and a friend founded www.monochord.com, an online record shop for music lovers in Linz, which he ran until 2004.

In 2001 he founded popfakes, an artist agency for unusual pop music. With popfakes, Pfoser-Almer was able to help push the careers of artists like Austrofred and Kreisky . There was also intensive collaboration with music acts such as MORD, David Lipp Und Die Liebe, Damo Suzuki , Bandista , ZU, Rainer von Many , The Cesarians and Thalija. popfakes was also responsible for the very first tours of Russian (NOM) and Chinese (PK14, FM3) acts in Austria. popfakes was discontinued in 2011.

Pfoser-Almer's master's thesis "Structures and strategies in the music industry under changed social framework conditions" was published in 2003 as a book by Trauner Verlag , Linz

When he moved to Vienna, Pfoser-Almers began working for checkpointmedia Multimediaproduktionen AG in Vienna as a project manager for large-scale multimedia projects.

In 2008 Pfoser-Almer was engaged by Linz 2009 - European Capital of Culture , initially only as artistic director and project manager of GOODNIGHTSTUFF, the official party line of Linz09 (53 events in 2009). Later came the musical direction of the Linz09 closing event on December 31, 2009.

Also on the train from Linz 2009, Pfoser-Almer became Artistic Director at LINZFEST, the largest open air music festival in Upper Austria. Pfoser-Almer held this position until 2016.

In 2011 he started working as a lecturer on event management, cultural and project management and the like. a. at WIFI Vienna and WIFI Tirol .

An engagement at Linzfest gave me the opportunity to work as tour manager on the European tour of the band Giant Giant Sand in 2012.

In 2013 Pfoser-Almer was invited to contribute to the book And every year one itches again . In: 16 Zwanzixtl +1 - 20 years Open Air Ottensheim (Verein Open Air Ottensheim , 2013) to write.

Pfoser-Almer's first film project, Late Blossom Blues, developed again from a commitment to Linzfest, for which Pfoser-Almer took on the production and direction. The film is a (multiple award-winning) portrait of the American musician Leo "Bud" Welch, which will be released in 2017. He founded the film production company Let's Make This Happen especially for this purpose .

After the Linzfest was canceled by the Linz city politicians, Pfoser-Almer became managing director of WearFair + mehr.
