Lovecut is a debut film by the two directors Iliana Estañol and Johanna Lietha, released in January 2020.
action
In loosely interwoven episodes, the directors tell of six different teenagers who have taken the effort to discover their identities. For example, there's a strong-looking Luka who Ben met through Tinder and who started dating him regularly. However, during his probationary period, she tried to face real feelings and was afraid of going back to prison.
One of these episodes featured Momo from Russia. She has a deep Skype relationship with Alex. Little did she know, however, that the teenager was paraplegic and was actually in a wheelchair, which is why Alex has so far avoided face-to-face meetings. Although he was afraid to tell Momo the truth, he wanted to maintain a close relationship with her in real life as well.
The third couple in this film are Alex's eldest brother Jakob and his younger friend Julia. Both of them enjoy sharing their playful sex with their close friends via social media posts. One day, the couple hit on the idea of making sex videos and then posting them online in the hopes of getting paid. As they realized how much money they could actually make by posting videos, Julia became more and more open about her ideas and Jacob began to doubt them.
background
The film was originally planned as XOXO . The name was later changed to Lovecut . According to an interview with the directors and actors, most of the actor acquisition took place in clubs and places frequented by young people.
Awards
