Jan Frans van Bloemen
Jan Frans van Bloemen (* before May 12, 1662 in Antwerp , † June 13, 1749 in Rome ) was a Flemish landscape painter of the Baroque .
Life
Jan Frans van Bloemen, Pieter van Bloemen's brother , stayed mostly in Rome. The landscapes of Claude Lorrain and Gaspard Poussin exerted the greatest influence on him; it is of course inferior to the latter in the rhythmic beauty of the lines, but often surpasses it in terms of the clarity and shading of the distance, which gave it the nickname "Orizzonte".
