Jan Gross

Jan Gross (born April 25, 1938 in Starogard , Poland , (German: Preußisch Stargard ); † March 25, 2014 in Cieszyn , Poland) was a Polish Lutheran theologian . He was President of the Synod of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland .

Jan Gross was ordained to the ministerial office on October 2nd, 1960 and initially worked in Szczytno (Ortelsburg) . In 1961 he became pastor in Dąbrówno (Gilgenburg) , Lipowo (Leip) and Glaznoty (Marienfelde) . On January 1, 1963 he took over the parish Goleszów (Golleschau) .

On September 28, 1967 he married Krystyna Jarzembowska, with whom he had the daughter Elżbieta-Helena Gross.

On 1 October 1973, he took on a new role in Cieszyn (Teschen) , and on September 3, 1978, the congregation elected him Mikołów (Nikolai) to their pastor. He received the "Mikołowiannia 2003" and was awarded the "Luther Rose" in 2004.

Jan Gross was President of the Synod of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland until 2007 .
