Jan Grossman
Jan Grossman (born May 23, 1925 in Prague ; † February 10, 1993 ibid) was a Czech theater director, literary and theater critic.
Life
He already wrote while he was still in high school and was a member of the Hnutí za svobodu (Movement for Freedom) during World War II . After the end of the war, he studied comparative literature and aesthetics at the Philosophical Faculty of Charles University in Prague .
In 1946 he was lecturer at the Národní divadlo drama theater (National Theater Prague), and until 1953 dramaturge of the State Theater in Brno. Until 1956 he took over the dramaturgy in Burian's army theater Déčko (Das D). He worked as a publisher's editor until 1959, but returned to the theater and became the dramaturge of the Laterna Magica, which was banned in 1961 . Until 1968 he took over the dramaturgy at the Divadlo Na zábradlí (Theater am Geländer).
