Jan Hatzius

Jan Hatzius (* 1968 in Heidelberg ) is a German economist.

Jan Hatzius studied at the University of Wisconsin , at the Institute for World Economy in Kiel and was awarded a D.Phil in 1995 at Oxford University with his thesis "Migration and the labor market: the case of Germany" . PhD . At times he worked as a staff member at the London School of Economics .

In 1997 Hatzius went to the American investment bank Goldman Sachs, initially in Frankfurt am Main , and from 1999 in New York City . In 2005 he was to succeed William C. Dudley the chief economist for the US . He is one of the most influential people on New York's Wall Street .

Hatzius is married to an American and has three children.
