Jan Hermelink

Jan Hermelink (born June 19, 1958 in Bonn ) is a German Protestant theologian .

After studying in Heidelberg , Hamburg and at the Free University of Berlin , Hermelink was an assistant at the Church University of Berlin-Zehlendorf from 1987 to 1989 . After graduating as Dr. theol. (1990) he was ordained in 1991 at the Marienkirche in Berlin . From 1992 to 1993 he worked as a lecturer at the Preachers' Seminar of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia in Brandenburg an der Havel , then he went to the Martin Luther University Halle as a research assistant for practical theology , where he started a thesis in 1999 habilitated on the Practical Theology of Church Membership. Since 2001 he has been a full professor for practical theology and pastoral theology at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen . On April 1, 2009, he took over the Dean's Office of the Theological Faculty.

His main research interests include homiletics , liturgy and church theory ( cybernetics ). He is editor of the journal Practical Theology and the publication series Works on Practical Theology as well as co-editor of the journal for Protestant church law .

His grandfather is the church historian Heinrich Hermelink .
