Jan Köhler (soccer player)

Jan Köhler (born March 6, 1971 ) is a former German soccer player. He played almost exclusively at 1. FC Magdeburg , for which he was active in the GDR Oberliga , the DFB Amateur Oberliga and the Regionalliga .

Athletic career

Jan Köhler was part of 1. FC Magdeburg's squad for the GDR junior league between 1987 and 1989. At the age of 18 he was already used in the first men's team in point games of the GDR Oberliga. His first league game played Koehler on May 24, 1989. On the 24th matchday he was used in the encounter 1. FCM - Wismut Aue (2-2) as a central defender. Overall, Köhler played three times in the GDR major league in the 1988/89 season. With the FCM junior team, he was East German champion in 1989. For the following season 1989/90 Jan Koehler was officially registered for the 1st team as a defender. However, he was not used in the league and instead played in the junior league.

It was only when 1. FCM played in the third or fourth class amateur league in the DFB game system that Köhler got better. Between 1991 and 1998 he played 71 point games with the first team. Koehler played his last competitive game for 1. FC Magdeburg after promotion to the regional league on April 19, 1998 in the regional league league game 1. FCM - Spandauer SV (3-1). He later continued his football career with the Kaltenkirchener Turnerschaft in Schleswig-Holstein .
