Jan Kanty Moszyński , also Johann Xantius Anton († September 14, 1737 in Warsaw ) was a Polish nobleman and treasurer of King August II.

Life

Jan Kanty came from the impoverished Polish noble family von Moszyńscy . His father Aleksander Michał Moszyński worked as a treasurer in a small village in Podlaskie . Mother Teresa von Ossolinski belonged to the Tęczyński family . Jan Kanty also had two brothers.

The uncle Jan Kantys Franciszek Maksymilian Ossoliński was the private secretary of King August II. As the king's confidante, he gave his nephew access to the court in Dresden , where he was employed as chamberlain . In the years that followed, he continued his career. On February 26, 1726 he was appointed Starost in Gostyń and shortly afterwards on May 8 in Inowłódz . On May 4, 1729 he received the title incisor Regni (Corona Regni Poloniae) and was finally appointed royal treasurer on May 20 of the same year. For his services in the civil service he was awarded the Order of the White Eagle on February 18, 1730 .

Jan Kanty married in 1730 incognito Friederike Alexandra von Cosel (1709–1784), the illegitimate daughter of the king. The two sons Friedrich August and Friedrich Joseph emerged from the marriage. Both sons made careers during the reign of Stanislaus II August Poniatowski and received numerous honors.
