Johann Georg Nagel (born June 20, 1939 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch politician and former radio host. He is the founder of the senior citizens' party 50PLUS .

Life

Originally he was a member of the social democratic Partij van de Arbeid and belonged to the extreme left wing. After a visit to East Berlin in 1975, he described the Wall as historically correct. He was also criticized for this in his own party. 1977–1983 Nagel was a PvdA member of the First Chamber .

In 1993 he founded the local party Leefbaar Hilversum and sat for them in Hilversum in the city council and in the city government. In 2001 he was a co-founder of the nationwide party Leefbaar Nederland . This adopted more and more right-wing populist ideas and had Pim Fortuyn as the top candidate at short notice in 2001/2002 . Nagel was the first party chairman.

In 2005 he was involved in the founding of another party, the Partij voor Rechtvaardigheid, Daadkracht en Vooruitgang, together with the crime reporter Peter R. de Vries . It remained unsuccessful in the polls and was disbanded.

In 2009, Nagel co-founded the OokU party, which was renamed 50PLUS in 2011 . Nagel was also chairman and political leader of the party until 2012. In the provincial elections on March 2, 2011, 50PLUS received enough votes so that they could vote with the regional parties for a seat for the Onafhankelijke Senaatsfractie , namely in the First Chamber of the national parliament.
